What is the behaviour policy?
Our Behaviour Policy/ An Córas Iompair has been developed in consultation with parents, teaching staff and students.
It has been developed in line with best practice recommendations of Sport Ireland Safeguarding Guidance, Tusla, An Roinn Oideachas and in line with the rules under which Coláiste UISCE is recognised as a Coláiste Gaeilge by Roinn na Gaeltachta.
We expect all students to conduct themselves in a positive, well-mannered and co-operative manner. In order to achieve the above, we have set out our standards and students are expected to adhere to the standard in the Behaviour policy of Coláiste UISCE for the duration of the course.
Prior to your child attending one of our courses, we strongly advise that you read our information leaflet, ‘Is Your Child Ready for the Gaeltacht?”
Behaviour
Policy
Repetitive non-compliance or single incidents of a serious nature may lead to restricted participation, suspension or dismissal from Coláiste UISCE.
In situations leading to restricted participation or temporary suspension parents/guardians may be liable for any costs incurred and will be expected to make immediate travel arrangements. The parent/guardian shall be required to make travel arrangements and shall be liable for any costs incurred due to a student being dismissed from the Coláiste.
The investigation and decision making arising from every incident will be conducted fairly and in line with our Behaviour Policy and there are various outcomes and options which will be discussed with you and your child if difficulty is encountered in adhering to the Behaviour Policy. We are in loco parentis of your child, and others and the safety of all students is our priority.
The document is available to view here and we strongly recommend that you familiarise yourself with this document before your child attends a course with us. Please discuss the standard expected with your child. If you have any concerns as to how your child might behave or react to what is expected of them it is in everyone’s best interests that you discuss this with us in advance. Any such discussion or information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
RIAIL NA GAEILGE /
The Irish Rule
Caithfidh gach duine iarracht a dhéanamh Gaeilge a labhairt i gconaí.
Students must make a determined effort to speak Irish at all times. Non-compliance of this rule will be dealt with through the Behaviour Policy.
Our Behaviour Policy is designed to recognise and assist those who have genuine difficulty. It also recognises where students are not making a determined effort.
Repetitive non-compliance of the Irish rule may result in restriction on participation, suspension or dismissal from Coláiste UISCE. The Irish Language Rule will be strictly enforced to maintain the Irish Language environment of Coláiste UISCE.
