Safety and Fun
Similar to all our courses in Coláiste UISCE, on cúrsa D our aim is to ensure that your child will have a safe and enjoyable experience in a positive educational environment. Over the last 19 years Coláiste UISCE has gone from strength to strength due to our novel and fun approach to teaching the Irish language without any compromise to our commitment and dedication to providing you the highest standards possible.
Coláiste UISCE is the only Irish College to hold accreditation from the Irish Sailing Association and the Irish Surfing association. This approval is your guarantee that your child receives the highest standards in relation to Instructor / Pupil ratios, Buoyancy Aids, watersports equipment and qualifications of instructors.
24hr supervision is provided for all our students by a dedicated team of night supervisors, teachers, prefects and Bean an Tís to ensure your child gets the highest standard or care.

Gaeilge Despite advertising our “Fun” approach to teaching Irish, we take our obligation in relation to the standard of Gaeilge in Coláiste UISCE very seriously. We employ more supervisory staff per student that any other Irish College in Ireland in order to implement and maintain this standard. Our principals are dedicated to maintaining and insisting upon a solely Irish language atmosphere at the Coláiste. We operate a clear and transparent discipline system to ensure all students understand that learning Irish is the primary objective of the course at Coláiste UISCE. |

Siollabas Nua We have designed a brand new Coláiste UISCE Syllabus for the classroom. Students will return home with a workbook that they can revisit during the school year. This will give you, the parent, an idea of the topics and exercises covered during their Irish College course stay with us. |
Testimonials
Over the last 19 years we have countless testimonials from parents thanking us, after noticing a clear improvement in their children, upon their return home from Coláiste UISCE. Not only from an Irish language perspective but from many other aspects also. Many have noticed that their children have also developed a greater confidence within themselves and learned valuable social skills as a result of their Irish College course.
Personal Development and Life Skills Learning
Recent TV programmes have highlighted the benefits of the outdoor pursuits environment in the personal development of teenagers. Research in this field demonstrates that Emotional Intelligence (E.I.) can matter twice as much as IQ or academic intelligence in relation to the success of students in life, in the workplace and in leadership ability.
In Coláiste UISCE, as well as teaching Irish, we see the personal development and emotional needs of each individual as our primary goal. Our activities during ’Cúrsa Spraoi le Micky T’ are geared towards instilling confidence in students as well as giving them new life skills:

Cúrsa Tarrthála Our introductory course in Lifesaving is an important module for students at Coláiste UISCE. This course will teach the individual to respect the sea and other water users. Saving a life is a skill that everyone should learn at an early age. By learning the basic lifesaving steps each student will feel more confident during water based activities. Muirtí Ó Cearnaigh, our Lifesaving coach from Atlantic Coast Lifeguards, has a reputation for delivering high quality courses and is now leading in his field as the one of the top Beach and Pool lifeguard coaches in the country. |

Cúrsa Drámaíochta Our aim with our drama course is to, again, give confidence to the student to stand up in front of his/her peers and take part in the drama competition. Students will also be developing their fluency in Irish and increasing their vocabulary. Drama workshops help students focus their mind and body on the task at hand. It also encourages empathy by acting out roles from different situations. This in turn promotes compassion for others’ feelings and viewpoints. Students public speaking also improves through drama. They learn the skill of staying calm, while speaking in front of a crowd and above all drama brings play, humour and laughter to learning. Each group will be closely mentored by our drama coach. The show at the end of the course will be filmed so that they can take their memories home with them at the end of the course. |
